Comparte los autores/as palestinos. Me encantaría leerlos.

Me encanta 🍂

As someone new to Jerusalem and Palestine, I’m interested in how Tamim Al-Barghouti’s poem might have influenced your view of the city. Did it give you any new ways of understanding or seeing Jerusalem? Are there particular parts that feel especially relatable to your own impressions so far? And, overall, did you enjoy the poem?

Thank you for taking the time to read what your students have shared. Were you genuinely interested in reading and translating this poem, as they mentioned?

(When I see 🍂, I just know it’s something about Palestine, which motivates me to read.)

I'm glad the sign of the leaves in the title is working! Haha.

Actually, yes, this poem totally shifted how I see the city. Yesterday, I was up on the school roof, like I usually am for part of my break, just looking out, and I saw the golden dome, and immediately thought of the poem.

Like I said in the post, Jerusalem's always felt like just another city to me. I know the history, obviously, but now, because of the poem, I understand better those with a spiritual bond to it, especially those who can't come here anymore. I still feel like I connect with it intellectually more than energetically, though.

And yes, I was genuinely interested in reading and translating the poem! Otherwise, I wouldn’t have done it! 😂

Un abrazo!
